The Sleeping White Dragon - Columbia

I just couldn't ignore this opportunity. One of my favourite bands, Rush, were present in Florida 30 years ago today at the launch of the Space Shuttle Columbia. They were inspired to pen this wonderful song which neatly captures the drama and excitement surrounding the launch. Few things give me goose bumps, but I find it hard to watch this and ponder this momentous achievement without having to wipe away the odd tear. Whilst some men busy themsleves killing those that bow before a different totem, others strive to touch the heavens with human ingenuity and invention. Rush's song, Countdown, does justice to this crowning moment in human history.
