Life Imitates Art - Calm Down

Blimey O'Reilly! You couldn't make it up! Only a few days ago, I posted a clip from Harry Enfield's show featuring those great characters, The Scousers. Harry Enfield plays Terry (or 'Te') and the comedic basis of the clip is that scousers are overly aggressive and argumentative.

Harry Enfield as 'Te'

Harry Enfield has admitted that the 'Scousers' were based upon two characters from the Channel 4 soap opera Brookside. 'Terry Sullivan' & 'Barry Grant' were played by local actors Brian Regan and Paul Usher. Terry sported the iconic moustache and curly permed hair and was never slow at getting his fists out when the opportunity presented. But not satisfied with playing the stereotypical scouser on TV, Brian Regan has gone one step further...

Brian Regan & Paul Usher - Brookside's 'Te' & 'Ba'

Yes, Brian has stepped up to the plate and been arrested for murder. It is alleged that 'Our Te' shot dead a pub doorman in the idyllic little suburb of Aigburth (yes, that's right - where I used to live). He has been arrested along with - yes, you've guessed it - two other scousers. One shouldn't make light of such a serious crime, but I bet that Mr Regan is probably wishing that someone had told him to 'calm down' at the time of the alleged altercation.
